We use an easy-to-follow curriculum of video lessons, downloadable documents and a dash of personal attention to teach you the tools you’ll need to play any type of music. Our site focuses on the fundamentals, so it’s a great resource if you’re an absolute beginner or if you already know a few chords.
Benjamin first picked up a guitar during his sophomore year of college (circa 2000). A self-taught rhythm-guitar player that loves rock, folk and country music, Ben first thought of building a video guitar lesson website during the holidays in 2007. Having played the same 15 songs for a decade, hoping to hone his chops, Benjamin searched for a free & organized source for video guitar lessons. Needless to say he didn’t find what he wanted. On a whim Ben started a company and started building the best guitar lesson website ever… the rest is internet history!
Outside of being an entrepreneurial-video-guitar-lesson-guru, Benjamin has worked in sales and marketing in the San Francisco tech scene for pretty much forever. When Ben isn’t working he enjoys playing the guitar (duh!), seeing live shows (double duh!), running, & rooting for either the Cal Bears & San Francisco Giants. Oh, and… sorry ladies, he’s taken!
Benjamin appreciates this opportunity to write in the third person and that you have read this much of my… err… his bio, thank for visiting StrumSchool.com.

Brian Moran started playing the guitar in Northern New Jersey circa 1987. Initially, with the help of a private teacher, Brian focused on learning the art of rock and blues guitar. As Brian’s musical interests matured beyond ’80s hair bands he became interested in more improvisational styles of music, like jazz.
In 1998 Brian graduated Magna Cum Laude (smarty pants!) from the Berklee School of Music with a B.M., Professional Music. After graduation, Brian headed west to San Francisco, where he now makes his living teaching guitar and performing in various jazz, world music, rock and funk groups. Over the years, Brian has also written numerous articles published in Acoustic Guitar Magazine, taught classes and workshops at both The Jazz School (Berkeley, CA) and the South Bay Guitar Society’s Guitar Festivals, and performed hundreds of shows throughout the U.S. with various groups.
When Brian isn’t rockin’ out somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area, he spends most of his spare time either BBQing at home with his lovely wife or taking care of his ridiculously cute 1-year-old baby girl. You can check out some of Brian’s music and other gigs at brianmoranmusic.com.
