Acoustic Blues

Genres of Music
Acoustic Blues (əkústɪk blúz) is a subgenre of the Blues category. This type of sound is often referred to as Country Blues or Downhome Blues. The style is guitar-driven and often incorporated the southern sounds of Gospel, Ragtime, Hillybilly, and Dixieland Jazz. This style of music spread like wildfire through the United States and gave birth to all of the other styles of Blues, like the regional sounds of Memphis, Chicago, and West Coast. Artists like Robert Johnson and Tampa Red made the sound their own and helped to launch it into a higher level of popularity.

Acoustic guitars come in both 6, 7 and 12 string format. Their sound is projected through a sound hole that is cut in a circular shape into the top of the guitar. Although a majority of acoustic players use the instrument to produce rhythms and chords, it can also be used as an effective lead instrument.
