Want to Change The Guitar Lesson Industry? Apply to be StrumSchool’s CTO!

Are you a talented engineer looking to get in on something new, innovative and exciting? Have a passion for music and other hand-on hobbies? Looking for an opportunity to build an engineering team from the ground up? If so, StrumSchool.com is looing for it’s first engineer/CTO and we want YOU! What is StrumSchool? StrumSchool is a free web-based service that uses a curriculum of instructional videos, downloadable documents & a dash of personal attention to teach aspiring guitar players what they need to know to be able to play any type of music on the guitar. We just launched our public beta this month, so you can check out our site at http://www.StrumSchool.com. Our Big Vision We want StrumSchool to be more than just another niche content site. Our plan is to start by launching an awesome service that helps the DIY crowd to learn how to play the guitar for free (CHECK!). Now that we’ve launched in beta, we plan to build a more integrated service that disintermediate the in-home private guitar lesson industry by combining a peer-2-peer service with our existing pre-recorded video content.  We see the mashup of live and pre-recorded content as a new medium that is marketable, easily monetized and potentially disruptive to multiple industries. In other words, guitar lessons is just where we are starting! Once we prove that our model works with music instruction, we plan to expand our platform to cover every possible “hands-on” hobby (IE: fitness, woodworking, gardening, parenting, blogging, cooking, etc).  Meet Our Team  Benjamin Shapiro is the founder and CEO of StrumSchool. Ben has 10+ years of marketing and business development experience. He’s been a member of the eBay Internet Marketing team for the past 7 years. He’s got a great sense of business, product and strategy and is a super nice guy... you’ll like him!  Brian Moran is the good looking fellow who stars in all of our videos. As our Director of Guitar Instruction and a graduate from the Berklee School of Music (Magna Cum Laude), Brian gives us the knowledge and credibility to consider ourselves a world class guitar lesson site.  Kondra Systems is the software agency that developed the beta version of StrumSchool. While Kondra does not own any part of StrumSchool, their CEO, David Vogt, is on our Board of Advisors. They are a collection of super smart techies that will be heavily involved in the transition of the existing site to our new engineer.   The  Role StrumSchool is looking for someone with both amazing product vision and technical “know-how”. As our first full-time engineer, you will work hand-in-hand with our CEO and staff to define how the StrumSchool service looks, feels and operates. This includes side site architecture, product design & creation and a whole bunch of tinkering! Required Skills Ability to create and iterate on frontend product features with blazing speed. Deep knowledge of a commonly used and modern coding language (IE: PHP, Ruby, etc) Ability to manage an internal dev team, freelancers and external agencies.  Good understanding of integrated services that leverage community, local & mobile functionality. Experience working with peer-2-peer video services is a plus Running knowledge of database setup and management. Amazing problem solving skills. Tireless work ethic. Team first focus. The Opportunity As an early employee at StrumSchool, you'll have an opportunity to impact a budding business and reap the rewards! StrumSchool is actively looking for angel funding, so our comp package will include "startup salary" and a meaningful chunk of equity. We are well networked into the Angel/VC community and have already received rave reviews from potential investors. We are very confident that, with the right engineering resources, securing will be a quick process. Most importantly, this job is your chance to work on make money doing something cool while getting a chance to start and manage an integrated web service from the ground up. Help StrumSchool Win A Meeting With A VIP – Naval Ravikant [PLEASE VOTE]

StrumSchool's CEO, Benjamin Shapiro, has been entered into a contest to win a meeting with Naval Ravikant, a famous technology investor. Ben is currently in a close battle for the top spot and we need your help to push him into the winners circle! Here are the details of the contest and how you can help: Who is Naval: Naval is an entrepreneur, angel investor, the co-author of Venture Hacks and, most importantly, the founder of AngelList, a site that helps technology startups meet investors. StrumSchool is using AngelList to try to get in touch with potential investors (our profile), so meeting Naval could be an amazing opportunity! Why This Matters: StrumSchool is a bootstrapped startup. To those of you not in the tech industry, that means the founders of our site have paid to build this site with their own money. Now that StrumSchool is up and running, we are trying to find investors to help us to create more content and build new tools that will help you learn how to play the guitar. We really think that meeting with Naval will open lots of doors for StrumSchool so we'd really like your help! How You Can Make A Difference: Vote! Vote! VOTE! Placing your vote take 20 seconds max and can be done in three easy steps. All you need to do is: Visit http://meetavip.com/angellist. Login using your Facebook account. Click on the vote button next to Benjamin Shapiro. You can only vote for this contest once per Facebok account, so if you really love us, please share this story on Facebook!  Ok, well, what are you waiting for... get our there and rock this vote!
