Downpicking
Downpicking (downpicking) is a style where the guitarist uses the guitar pick sequentially on the instrument’s strings in a downward motion to give the music a faster, edgier, louder sound. Downpicking requires a lot of stamina because the downpicking hand, generally the right hand, is required to make a tremendous physical effort. Inexperienced guitar players are often unable to stand up to the stress, and their lack of familiarity with the technique makes their notes sound uneven. Exercises that improve the ability to downpick involve slowing the passage down, playing it with a metronome, and then gradually speeding it up to the required rhythm.
Downpicking technique is used in virtually every type of music but is a signature technique in heavy metal and punk music.
