A Free Stroke (frí strók) is also known as Tirando (“pulling” in Spanish), which is a technique where the player quickly plucks a string without let the plucking finger touch the next string. By not touching any other strings, the player can keep multiple strings ringing at the same time, which gives the notes being played a large and harmonic quality. While most associate this playing technique with the Flemenco guitar style, free stroke also thrives in the classical guitar style.
