Wedding Music
Wedding Music (wɛ́dɪŋ myúzɪk) refers to music commonly played at weddings. “Here Comes the Bride” is nearly always played in traditional weddings as the bride and bridesmaids walk down the aisle. Other popular wedding songs include Schubert’s “Ave Maria,” Pachelbel’s “Canon in D,” Bach’s “Air on the G String,” and Wagner’s “Bridal Chorus.” This style of music is typically elegant and unobtrusive, setting the tone for the occasion without drawing attention to the musician. Popular styles of music used during weddings are often from the Baroque or Classical periods (1600-1750 AD) and feature composers like Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Wagner, Schubert. Top 40 music throughout the 20th century performed instrumentally as well as music by impressionist and modern classical composers are also sometimes used at weddings.
