The American rock band Counting Crows has been making music since the early 1990s. The band’s main musical influences include R.E.M., Mike and The Mechanics, Nirvana, Bob Dylan, and Van Morrison. They play under the genre of alternative rock and pop rock.

Adam Duritz is the lead singer and one of the founding members of Counting Crows. He is the co-writer of the vast majority of their songs including, Round Here, A Long December & “Accidentally in Love” which aired in the movie Shrek 2. His lyrics are often described as tortured, morose, and wordy introspection, while his vocals are described as expressive.
 
Adam DuritzCharlie Gillingham is known for his performances on the Hammond B-3 organ, accordion, keyboards, and piano. During live shows, he will play the bass guitar for the band. He played the keyboards on the 1998 debut album for Train. As the co-composer of “Accidentally in Love”, he was nominated for an Oscar.

 
Counting Crows Benjamin ShapiroDavid Immergluck is a versatile musician and has a voice that harmonizes nicely with backing vocals for the band. His list of notable instruments includes pedal steel guitar, electric sitar, keyboards, and mandolin. He often performs songs as a slide guitarist, which means he uses a slide to vary the vibrating length and pitch of a string.
 
Millard Powers joined Counting Crows in 2005 and he plays the bass guitar, piano, and upright double bass. He also sings live vocals for the band. In addition to the above instruments, he also plays the banjo, mandolin, drums, and guitar.
 
To play like Counting Crows you need to use a variety of instruments with simple chords that can easily be replicated by the beginner and the experienced guitar player. They are well known for their acoustic performances.
