The British rock band Young Guns play under the genres of post-hardcore and alternative rock. The band formed in 2003 but didn’t release their first debut album until July 12, 2010. Their first album was entitled All Our Kings Are Dead and the second album was Bones, which they released in February 2012. Both of their albums have been released under the band’s own label, Live Forever. The lyrics to most of Young Guns songs are considered to be cryptic and open to interpretation but carry the theme of self-motivation and determination. The title track from the album Bones uses delay guitar pattern ticks throughout the song.
Since 2003 Gustav Wood has been providing the lead vocals for the band while Fraser Taylor plays the lead guitar and rhythm guitar. Wood’s stellar vocal range is often described as being caught between a natural youthfulness and a gritted angst. In 2007, John Taylor joined the band also providing the rhythm guitar and lead guitar sounds to their songs. Simon Mitchell has been playing the bass guitar with the band since 2008. Former band members include Joseph Winter, Tom Ford, Alex Greenhill, and Pete Little.
To sound like Young Guns you need to play with a melodic edge with tunes that make you want to hum along with them. The lead guitar is often the focal point in the band’s songs. New guitar players as well as experienced players can replicate the band’s sound with effect-soaked guitar runs.
Keep Rockin’!!!
