Are you a talented engineer looking to get in on something new, innovative and exciting? Have a passion for music and other hand-on hobbies? Looking for an opportunity to build an engineering team from the ground up? If so, StrumSchool.com is looing for it’s first engineer/CTO and we want YOU!

What is StrumSchool?

StrumSchool is a free web-based service that uses a curriculum of instructional videos, downloadable documents & a dash of personal attention to teach aspiring guitar players what they need to know to be able to play any type of music on the guitar. We just launched our public beta this month, so you can check out our site at http://www.StrumSchool.com.

Our Big Vision

We want StrumSchool to be more than just another niche content site. Our plan is to start by launching an awesome service that helps the DIY crowd to learn how to play the guitar for free (CHECK!). Now that we’ve launched in beta, we plan to build a more integrated service that disintermediate the in-home private guitar lesson industry by combining a peer-2-peer service with our existing pre-recorded video content.

We see the mashup of live and pre-recorded content as a new medium that is marketable, easily monetized and potentially disruptive to multiple industries. In other words, guitar lessons is just where we are starting! Once we prove that our model works with music instruction, we plan to expand our platform to cover every possible “hands-on” hobby (IE: fitness, woodworking, gardening, parenting, blogging, cooking, etc).

Meet Our Team

  • Benjamin Shapiro is the founder and CEO of StrumSchool. Ben has 10+ years of marketing and business development experience. He’s been a member of the eBay Internet Marketing team for the past 7 years. He’s got a great sense of business, product and strategy and is a super nice guy… you’ll like him!

  • Brian Moran is the good looking fellow who stars in all of our videos. As our Director of Guitar Instruction and a graduate from the Berklee School of Music (Magna Cum Laude), Brian gives us the knowledge and credibility to consider ourselves a world class guitar lesson site.

  • Kondra Systems is the software agency that developed the beta version of StrumSchool. While Kondra does not own any part of StrumSchool, their CEO, David Vogt, is on our Board of Advisors. They are a collection of super smart techies that will be heavily involved in the transition of the existing site to our new engineer.

StrumSchool is actively looking for angel funding, so our comp package will include “startup salary” and a meaningful chunk of equity. We are well networked into the Angel/VC community and have already received rave reviews from potential investors. We are very confident that, with the right engineering resources, securing will be a quick process. Most importantly, this job is your chance to work on make money doing something cool while getting a chance to start and manage an integrated web service from the ground up.
