Baroque
The Baroque (bərók) period of music started in the early 1700s. The term Baroque is actually a deviation of the Italian term barocco which means bizarre. This period is defined by its extremely ornate music. Some of the composers of this musical period include Bach, Vivaldi, and Corelli. This period of music is also defined by changes in notations and new technique for playing instruments. From the Baroque period came the beginnings of opera by its expansion of the range, complexity, and size of an instrumental presentation. In the late 1800s, the transition from the Baroque period into the Classical era began.
