Chamber Music
Chamber Music (čémbər myúzɪk) describes music for a small-sized orchestra, usually of 10 or fewer musicians although it can also refer to orchestras up to 40 players. This style of music is typically played in a smaller or more intimate location, while music for a full orchestra is played in a bigger setting. This style gained its name because when classical music was emerging, a group of chamber musicians would play in small areas like rooms in a royal palace or inside people’s homes. Groups like trios, quartets, quintets and the like are all forms of chamber orchestras. Well-known composers of classical chamber music include Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert.
