classic blues

Classic Blues (klǼsɪk blúz) is a subgenre of the Blues Music category. Also known as the Classic Female Blues, this urban form of the Blues was created from the mixture of newer and more commercial Blues pieces with the older and more authentic Blues from the past. Notes of Jazz accompanied the acts that began on the Southern stage, quickly spreading in popularity. Notable artists in this category include, Mamie Smith with her first Classic Blues recording and Blind Lemon Jefferson, one of the most well-known performers in the category. This category still has roots in the music of today.
