hard rock

Hard Rock (hárd rák) is a subgenre of rock and roll that has its roots in many different places. Its earliest form came about in the mid-60s and continued to grow in popularity during the 70s. Peaking in the late 80s, the style of music finally found its audience. With a drastically heavy use of distorted electric guitars and a driving drum and bass, this genre screamed of sexuality and has always been considered a man’s genre of music. With bands like Led Zepplin, Aerosmith, and Van Halen, the sounds of Hard Rock rose to popularity and opened up the doors for further use of the sound through glam bands like Bon Jovi. Today’s Hard Rock bands are still rocking strong with groups like Avenged Sevenfold, Marilyn Manson, and Lamb of God.
