The advent of digital music changed the music scene forever. Decades past, if you’d want to learn how to play a song or jam out to your favorite artist, you’d would go the record store, buy a record or a CDs, find your favorite track and play along.

When Napster was first established in 1999, suddenly digitally distributed music was accessible to the masses with one click of a button. After copyright laws were passed, paid services such as Rhapsody, iTunes, Pandora, Rdio, Spotify and Songza began to emerge. Today MP3’s are the most popular medium for music consumption.  That said, we did a little research and came up with the list of the most downladed MP3’s of all time.

10. Hung Up by Madonna – Released in 2005 from the album Confessions on a Dance Floor, this dance-pop disco number has been downloaded 9 million times worldwide.

9. Lollipop by Lil’ Wayne – This song appears on Lil’ Wayne’s sixth studio album Tha Carter III. The shock rap track was released in 2008 and has been downloaded 9.1 million times.

8. Love the Way You Lie by Eminem featuring Rihanna – This song was the second single from Eminem’s album Recovery. Its themes sparked a bit of controversy, which rocketed the sales to 9.3 million downloaded copies.
 

7. Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO – This song from LMFAO’s Sorry for Party Rocking was the fastest selling digital single of all time. Released in 2011, this single has sold 9.7 million copies digitally. Tied for the number 7 spot is also Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, released in 2009.
 

6. Poker Face by Lady Gaga – Lady Gaga made a splash on the music scene with this second single from her debut album, The Fame. It is the most downloaded song in British history, and worldwide has sold 9.8 copies digitally. It was released in 2008.
 

5. Hips Don’t Lie by Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean – A catchy Latin pop song, and one of the older songs on the list, if you consider 2006 “old.” Worldwide, this single has been downloaded 10 million times.

4. Grenade by Bruno Mars – This heartbreak pop song was the second single from Mars’ debut album, Doo-Wops and Hooligans. Released in 2010, it has been downloaded 10.2 million times.

3. Just the Way You Are by Bruno Mars – Mars makes a second appearance on this list with his first single from his debut album. This Grammy-award winning song was released in 2010 and has sold 12.5 million digital copies.
 

2. Tik Tok by Ke$ha – Ke$ha wakes up feeling like P Diddy in this catchy song released in 2009. This electro-pop song from Ke$ha’s debut album Animal has been downloaded 12.8 million times.

1. I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas – Topping the list is this dance-pop track from The Black Eyed Peas’ fifth album The E.N.D. Released in 2009, the most downloaded song in history has sold a whopping 14.6 digital copies.
