‘Celebration Day’ by Led Zeppelin: Billboard.com’s Top Hard Rock Album of the Week – 12/08/2012

Celebration Day by Led Zeppelin debuted this week on Billboard.com’s Top Hard Rock Album of the week. The album also debuted as #3 on the Billboard Rock Albums, #9 on the Billboard 200, and #1 on the Germany Albums chart. ‘Celebration Day’ is a live concert that was filmed on December 10, 2007 in London’s 02 Arena. Led Zeppelin was performing a tribute concert for Ahmet Ertegun who founded Atlantic Records.

Band members performing on the ‘Celebration Day’ album includes founding members Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and John Paul Jones. The son (Jason Bonham) of the bands late drummer John Bonham joined the original members to perform on the album. Led Zeppelin was formed in 1968 in London, England. During the 1970s, Led Zeppelin was considered to be one of the biggest bands in the world.

Led Zeppelin disbanded after the death of Bonham in 1980. However, the band reunited in 1985, 1988, 1995, and 2007. At the 2008 MOJO Awards, the band received the ‘Best Live Act’ award. In 2007, Page, Plant, and Jones were the recipients of Kennedy Center Honors for their lifetime of contributions to American culture.
