Green Day is releasing their eleventh studio album on December 11, 2012. ‘¡Tré!’ is the third album in a trilogy of albums entitled ¡Uno! ¡Dos! and ¡Tré!. The albums have been released over a three month period from September 2012 to December 2012. The first album used a power pop style, the second album used a garage rock style and the third album combines both styles.
It had been three years since the band released their last album, ‘21st Century Breakdown’. Green Day released their first album in 1990, ‘39/Smooth’. When the band was originally formed in 1987 by teenagers Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt, they went by the name Sweet Children. The boys changed the name in 1989 to avoid confusion with a local band named Sweet Baby. It is reported they picked Green Day because of their fondness for marijuana.
¡Tré! contains twelve songs all written by band member Billie Joe Armstrong. Green Day composed all the music for the tracks. Songs on this album include:
