Vampire Weekend released their third studio album on May 14, 2013, Modern Vampires of the City. The album debuted in the number one spot on Billboard.com’s Top Rock Album Chart for June 1, 2013. Additionally, the album has already charted at #1 on the Irish Independent Albums chart, UK Indie Albums Chart, and US Billboard 200 Chart. Singles already released from the album include “Diane Young” and “Step”, both released on March 19 plus “Ya Hey” released on May 3.
 
Current members of the band include Ezra Koening, Rostam Batmanglij, Chris Tomson, and Chris Baio. After they wrapped up their world tour for their album Contra, the band decided they needed a break after five years without one. The separation didn’t last long and the band regrouped in 2011. Vampire Weekend is from New York City. They met at Columbia and they formed the group in 2006. The band’s first album was Vampire Weekend released in 2008, and the second was Contra released in 2010.
 
Ezra Koening, wrote all the lyrics and Koening and Rostam Batmanglij composed all the music except where noted. Most of the tracks were written during a writing retreat at Martha’s Vineyard. The tracklisting for Modern Vampires of the City includes:
