The Lumineers were formed in 2005 by Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites. They are joined by three additional members, Neyla Pekarek, Stelth Ulvang, and Ben Wahamaki. In 2013, the band was nominated for two Grammy Awards, Best New Artist and Best Americana Album and two Billboard Music Awards, Top New Artist and Top Rock Artist.
The band has described their musical style as simple, the type of music that anyone with an instrument can play. The group has released two extended plays, The Lumineers and Winter plus one studio album The Lumineers. Their studio album was released on April 3, 2012 on the Dualtone label. It peaked at #2 on the music charts in the United States and in Canada. The Lumineers album also peaked in the top 10 in Australia, and the UK.
