new wave

New Wave (nú wév) is a style of music that began to rise in popularity in the late 70s. It rose to its highest popularity in the eighties, when the style became a theme for a generation of music lovers. Once considered punk, the style eventually gained its own identity. This style of music relies heavily on an electronic sound through the use of synthesizers and other electronic instruments. With an eccentric and fun beat, New Wave became popular through the likes of The Ramones, The Talking Heads, Blondie, and The Police. With its heart based in pop and its soul in punk, this style of music was truly unique.
