Progressive Rock (prəgrɛ́sɪv rák) is a style of music that first originated in the United Kingdom and was created through the efforts of the British, who wanted to give traditional rock music a higher standing and artistic sound. Featuring atypical instruments, such as flutes, saxophones, and violins, this style of music also added in electronic highlights through electric keyboards and synthesizers. Progressive Rock has always been known as the style of music that tells an epic story, and it was made famous by many successful groups, such as Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and The Moody Blues. This genre pushed rock to new heights and changed the way that songs were formed.
