The Australian electronic music duo Empire of the Sun has released their latest album. Ice on the Dune was released on June 18, 2013 in the US. It is the second studio album for the band. The first album, Walking on a Dream, was released on October 2008. The first single from Ice on the Dune was “Alive” released on April 15, 2013. “Alive” peaked at #47 on the US Hot Dance Club Songs Chart. The first single was used in an introductory video in 2013 for Google I/O.
Members of Empire of the Sun include Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore. In addition to being a member of the Empire of the Sun, Steele is also the primary songwriter and vocalist for the band The Sleepy Jackson. Littlemore is associated with Pnau and Teenager as well as Empire of the Sun. He plays a variety of instruments including the drums, trombone, melodica, clavi, and keyboards. Empire of the Sun was formed in 2007 after Luke and Nick were introduced to each other in a bar in Sydney. The duo was nominated for six awards at the 2009 ARIA Awards and won five of them.
