Madness by Muse continues to hold the #1 spot on Billboard.com’s Top Alternative Song of the Week for December 22, 2012. The song also charted as #9 on the Rock Songs, #1 on the Rock Airplay, and #67 on the Hot 100 charts. ‘Madness’ is the second single released from the album ‘The 2nd Law’. The first song was ‘Survival’ which was the official song for the London 2012 Olympics.
 
‘The 2nd Law’ was released in September 28, 2012 and is the sixth studio album for Muse. The first album for the band was released in 1999 entitled ‘Showbiz’. Muse followed up with album releases in 2001, 2003, 2006, and 2009. ‘Madness’ was written by Matthew Bellamy and produced by Muse. In fact, all the songs on ‘The 2nd Law’ was written and composed by Matthew Bellamy except for two. Christopher Wolstenholme is the writer and composer of the songs ‘Save Me’ and ‘Liquid State’.

 
Current band members for Muse include Matthew Bellamy, Christopher Wolstenholme, and Dominic Howard. All three band members have been with Muse since its formation in 1994. Over the years, Muse has been nominated for 103 awards and won a total of 37. The awards include MTV Video Music Awards, Kerrang! Awards, and Grammy Awards. In addition, the song has been nominated for Best Rock Song for the 2013, 55th Grammy Awards.
 
‘Madness’ was released on August 20, 2012. The music video was released on September 5, 2012. Before the band released the song to the public they premiered it on BBC Radio 1 and NRJ.
