The next topic that we want to talk about is tuning your Guitar. Tuning your guitar is something that you need to do every time you play the guitar. Lot of guitars will go out of tune during playing. It is just a very common problem. It is important that you get your guitar properly in tune, or every time you play a Chord or note or whatever, if it is not in tune, it’s not going to sound very good. Let’s talk about how to tune... Back in the day, this tuning fork was probably your best bet for getting your guitar accurately in tune, and it’s pretty involved. You got to strike the tuning fork, it gives you a pitch. Then you tune your guitar, one string, in fact, to that same pitch, and then you start the process of tuning other strings to the string that you’ve just tuned to pitch. Anyway, it’s kind of involved. It is a great skill, and something that you will eventually develop. But for now, if you are just starting out, what we recommend, is using a Tuner. So, what I have here are two typical examples of electronic or Electric Guitar tuners [Holds two tuners in hands]. This one here [Shows first type of the tuner] uses a microphone. What it does is that you place it close to your guitar, and it listens to the sound of the string, and tells you if you are in tune or not. The other type that I have here [Shows second type of the tuner]works on vibrations. It actually clips on to the Headstock of your guitar, and feel the vibrations of the strings. The general technology is the same, but the beauty of the clip-on is that, because it does not have a microphone, you can use it in a loud environment. You can have five people tuning five guitars at once, and no tuner gets confused by which note it is trying to listen to. So we recommend this clip-on type tuners. What we are going to do now is walk you through how to read, and use an electric Guitar tuner.
