This video is for the F power chord. There are three types people commonly play. Let’s look at the two types of root six.

The first root six power chord for the F starts with the sixth string first fret. I use my first finger and now I apply the other two fingers in the power chord shape that’s always the same, fifth string third fret, fourth string third fret. I have X’s on strings three, two and one. And that’s one way that you can play a root six F power chord.

Now if I slide this whole chord up to the same strings, but up at the thirteenth fret. So now I have sixth string thirteenth fret, fifth string fifteenth fret, and fourth string fifteenth fret; this is also a root six F power chord. It’s a lot higher sounding as you can hear.

And now if I want to form a root five F power chord I go to the fifth string eighth fret. And I use the same fingering. I go fourth string tenth fret, third string tenth fret. There are X’s on string six, two and one. And that’s for the root five F power chord.
