This video is for the F sharp or G flat power chord or F sharp 5, G flat 5, all the same thing.

We’re going to start with the root six type of power chord. So first thing I do is find an F sharp note on the sixth string second fret. And I’m going to go there with my index finger. The other fingers are going to go down in the power chord shape we always use, where in this case I’m going fifth string fourth fret and fourth string fourth fret with the third finger and pinky.  I have X’s on strings three, two, and one. And that’s my root six or G flat power chord.

Now if I want to make the root five version, I need to go all the way up to the ninth fret. This is the F sharp or G flat root five. This is an F sharp note or G flat. And now I apply the other fingers in the power chord shape, which is on the eleventh fret. I have X’s on strings six, two and one. And that is the root five F sharp power chord.
